The Call of Duty League has detailed its plans for its first two events of the season, the Kickoff Classic and the league’s official opening weekend.

The Kickoff Classic, scheduled for Jan. 23-24, is an online exhibition featuring all 12 teams in the league, with matchups voted on by fans via Twitter poll. The broadcast will also contain full 2021 season details including how the teams are grouped together. Opening Weekend is scheduled for Feb. 11-14 and will be hosted by the Atlanta FaZe.

The Call of Duty League made some significant changes in the offseason, including a format change from a 5-on-5 structure to 4-on-4 and shifting from PlayStation 4 consoles to PC. With the console change comes a title change too, as Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be the featured game replacing Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

Two teams have also changed ownership. The Chicago Huntsmen were purchased by OpTic Gaming and are now known as the Chicago OpTic. The former OpTic Gaming Los Angeles was purchased by 100 Thieves and is now the Los Angeles Thieves.

Meanwhile, G2 Esports has named Adidas as its official apparel provider for the 2021 League of Legends season.
